The Labor and Democrat current display of softheaded ideology overlooks the obvious. Higher income earners create jobs through taking more risks in return for greater reward. This leads to more economic activity and therefore more jobs. Why take risks or do overtime when half of what you do is taken from you and your family?
The lowest income bracket in Peter Costello's budget papers will get 18% tax reduction and the top income group get 9%. A 15cents in the dollar tax makes it more attractive for new job entrants to put in a few extra hours, which will further help the economy.
The unemployed need jobs, in whatever capacity, to accept accountability and build self respect. Business must also accept responsibility as a community stakeholder, take a risk and work to provide roles for disabled or long term unemployed. Government can create opportunities for a nation, businesses and communities enjoying better economic health must also accept accountability at a local level for social concerns. The alternative is the socialist big brother system, where the individual gives up the right of self determination.
